As a parent, it's common to worry about a child's health. While some health issues make themselves known, things like a cough, a sneeze, a nosebleed, other health issues are more nuanced and require attention to realize they're even a problem at all.
When it comes to children, the need for an eye exam, or glasses may not be readily apparent. However, there are some signs that indicate it may be time to take your child to visit the Optometrist.
(Please note this list is non-exhaustive and not meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease - This is merely a helpful list that may indicate a need for an eye exam)
Frequent rubbing of the eyes
Moving head or tilting side-to-side to see or read
Squinting or straining to see
Difficulty seeing the board in school
Complaining things look "weird" or "fuzzy"
Difficulty distinguishing letters or shapes from one another
Complaining of "tired" eyes
Complaining of double vision, or seeing two of one object or person
Complaining of headaches, especially when trying to read
Holding books very close or very far away when trying to read them
Mistaking one object for another due to visual similarity, but missing fine details
Difficulty reading and/or writing, but able to respond to things verbally
Closing or covering one eye when looking at something

Poor hand-eye coordination
